Restoring an Incorporated Society to the registerApplying to restore an incorporated society to the registerIf the Registrar of Incorporated Societies is satisfied that a notice dissolving a society should be revoked, the Registrar can make a new declaration revoking the dissolution and restore the society to the register. To make an application for restoration, the following should be sent to the Registrar:
Visit our online Information Library for the necessary form. It is important to note that the restoration process may take up to 3 weeks to complete. Download Form | Request to restore an Incorporated Society from the register pdf | file size 55Kb Where a creditor is requesting that a society be restored to the register, only a letter requesting the society be restored to the register and the reason why, along with the $200 fee, is required. The Registrar gives effect to the declaration by publishing it in the Gazette (government journal), and then making an entry of the revocation in the register. The Registrar advertises revocations on a fortnightly basis in an effort to keep costs to a minimum. Visit the Department of Internal Affairs website | New Zealand Gazette page The effect of the declaration by the Registrar is to revive the society from the date of its dissolution – i.e. it can continue its operations as if the dissolution had never taken place.
